Riverina Accountants to Tie The Knot
Local Public Accounting firms Twomey Patterson and HMA Accounting yesterday announced their planned merger, following months of discussions between the respective firms. It is proposed that the merger will take place on 1st July 2006, with the new firm to be called HMA Twomey Patterson.
Twomey Patterson was established in 1999 following a merger of Patterson & Conkey and Twomey & Twomey. Twomey and Twomey were originally founded in 1949 in Cootamundra by Frank Twomey.
Allan Patterson qualified in 1963 and commenced business as a sole practitioner. In 1981 Doug Conkey became a partner and the firm became known as Patterson & Conkey.
Twomey Patterson now has offices in Cootamundra, Wagga, Coolamon, Young, Harden and Ganmain, and has 6 partners, Geoff and Michael Twomey , Jenny Officer, Doug Conkey, Andrew Pryor and Kerrie Walsh .
HMA Accounting was formed in July 2004 following the merger of Wagga Practices run by Partners Phillip Miller and David Hodge.
Partners Andrew Pryor of Twomey Patterson and David Hodge of HMA Accounting yesterday said: “We are extremely pleased to make this announcement, which follows a meeting held last Thursday to finalize the details of the merger. Both firms have known each other for some time, being members of the same financial planning group, Count Wealth Accountants, and are looking forward to the merger and the benefits it will bring to all clients. HMA Accounting and Twomey Patterson have similar values and are looking forward to providing an even greater level of service to all clients. The merger will allow for further specialization by Partners and staff to give clients better advice across the range of services offered in Tax & Accounting, Investment advising and Audit. The new business will have a combined team of over 50 professional and support staff, and while we don’t see too many direct changes affecting our clients, it is proposed that the Wagga offices of both firms will be combined, with all staff retained.”
HMA Accounting and Twomey Patterson are Members of Count Wealth Accountants, an Australian Financial Services Licensee No. 227232, ABN 19 001 974 625, and Australia's largest independently owned network of accountants specialising in wealth advice.
